The Twist
The striking aesthetic of this unique lamp design was inspired by the flexibility of the natural wood veneers.
Multiple layers of fine wood veneer are pressure molded, to form the twisted cylindrical body of the lamp. Opaque strips are hand crafted and set into the channel along the thin edge, creating revolving columns of light which subtly illuminate in all directions, set on a concrete base. Different warmth’s of light can be used to enhance the atmospheric effect.
Angle
In conjunction with the development of ‘The Scope’, HID designed ‘Angle’ as
a sister modular product. Lending itself well to many scales and forms, the
inspiration was to reflect the cityscape of Abu Dhabi. To create a subtle
modern candlelit design it brings the cityscape into the living environment,
and replicating the 24h passing of time in the city

Made by: Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph NautaMaterials: Glass, custom made fittings, led, software, electronics
Flylight (2007) is a site-specific light installation that directly interacts with its surroundings. It consists of delicate glass tubes that light up in an unpredictable way, partially responsive to external stimuli. The light mimics the behavior of a flock of birds in flight, symbolizing the conflict between the safeness of the group and the freedom of the individual.
